IDEA was founded in 1909. Its purpose is to foster the success of its members as leaders in providing

bases, airports, industrial parks and other physical plant systems engaged in supplying thermal energy in the form of steam, hot water and/or chilled water for heating, cooling and process uses. It also
represents engineers; architects; financial, legal, and management consultants; and manufacturers
who supply services and equipment for community energy systems.
