high-efficiency standards and brought
in consulting firm Aecom to help
improve the energy efficiency of existing
buildings and the central plant. As a
result, campus buildings were equipped
with energy-efficient lighting, sensors to
indicate whether particular rooms are
occupied or computers running, and an
energy management system to control
how and when the space is heated,
cooling, ventilated and lighted. These
improvements were paid for through
incentives from the local utility and the
California Public Utilities Commission.
School Districts Install
Honeywell is helping two New
Hampshire school districts cut their utility
bills through renewable energy and retro-
fit programs. The Pembroke District and
Winnisquam Regional School District have
awarded Honeywell new energy projects
expected to drive more than $3.7 million in
combined energy savings over the next 15
years. The centerpiece of the projects at both
districts is the installation of a central bio-
mass plant to provide hot water for heating
buildings. Switching the two schools from
fossil fuels to carbon-neutral fuel sources will
reduce their combined carbon dioxide emis-
sions by almost 720 tons annually.
The Future of the World Depends on Our Ability… to Sustain It.
As the world’s largest provider of heating, cooling and refrigeration systems, we believe that
market leadership requires environmental leadership. Carrier sets industry standards for
environmentally sound business practices and a commitment to sustainability across its
products, services and operations.
We demonstrate this commitment by creating environmentally sound products that consume
less energy and incorporate innovative materials that minimize the impact we have on our
planet. Carrier was the first air conditioning and refrigeration systems manufacturer to be
named an EPA Climate Leader.
