New Measurement Unit
for Energy Savings
A new electrical measurement unit
describing energy savings has been named
for acclaimed 20-century scientist Arthur
Rosenfeld. The unit - a “Rosenfeld” -
represents the electricity savings needed to
replace the annual generation from a single
existing 500 MW coal-fired power plant.
This correlates to energy savings of 3 billion
k Wh/yr and, in addition, represents 3 million
metric tons of annual avoided carbon diox-
ide emissions (assuming all savings come
from an existing coal plant).
Honeywell Debuts
Pressure-Regulated
Flow Control Valves
Honeywell has introduced new pressure-regulated flow control valves for commercial hydronic applications. In addition
to offering superior energy efficiency and
operational savings, the valves integrate
a dynamic pressure-balancing cartridge,
eliminating the labor-intensive process of
manually balancing hydronic systems. This
cartridge ensures that the flow-through
valve stays at design flow for maximum
comfort and system efficiency.
The new valves control flow within 5
percent accuracy at all load conditions and
