Reflections from…
SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR ATTENDEES
Ann McIver, QEP
Director of Environmental Stewardship
Citizens Energy Group
“I think one of the biggest challenges
that all IDEA members will face in the
future is reducing our use of fossil fuels
as we provide low-cost, reliable energy
for our customers. In my mind, the
forces to reduce the use of fossil fuels
will come at IDEA members from both
the environmental and fuels security
aspects. Mitigating the impacts associated with the production of district
energy on the environment – carbon
emissions and emissions of criteria and
hazardous air pollutants – will require
further innovation in biomass fuels to
meet the fuel-volume demands of the
larger systems. Many key stakeholders,
including IDEA members, are working
diligently to kick start that innovation
to get us into the next 100 years.”
