Gary Rugel was pleased to present IDEA’s System of the Year Award to the
first-ever two-time winner, Con Edison Steam Operations. From left to right,

Rob Thornton presented a special “20/20 Vision Award” to Raymond DuBose
of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill for his 20 years of continuous
dedication to IDEA through attendance at all 20 of the 20 campus energy
conferences held to date and for his leadership while on the executive
committee of the association.
IDEA members gave a standing ovation to Anders Rydaker, president of District
Energy St. Paul, who received IDEA’s “person of the year” Norman R. Taylor
Award for his career achievements and contributions to the advancement of
the district energy industry. In graciously accepting the award, Rydaker, shown
here, asked the IDEA audience to reach out and recruit the next generation of
industry leaders, seeking young professionals to get involved in an industry
that is challenging, rewarding and worthwhile.
